Recruitment Description:
Multi-budget PhDs and Postdoctoral Programs (Fall 2022, Fall 2023) are available at the University of Florida’s Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics. This research focuses on the application and development of ML / AI technologies to solve biomedical problems, advance precision medicine, and improve healthcare. The ultimate goal of our research is to revolutionize biomedical science through advanced artificial intelligence technologies and solve practical biomedical problems in the real world. The candidates are Dr. Rui Yin and Dr. I will work with Jiang Bian. Our team has extensive research experience in machine learning, data mining, NLP, etc., and applications in the biomedical field. Students are free to explore research that interests them. The best students on our team will have the opportunity to visit Harvard University. Research interests:

Areas of study include, but are not limited to, the following subjects:

(1) Computer modeling of RNA viruses (influenza, coronavirus, Zika virus, etc.)

(2) Machine learning modeling to aid in the diagnosis of rare/unknown diseases

(3) Genotype and Phenotype related research for identification and innovation of biomarkers

(4) Combination of clinical informatics and genomics to support clinical decision-making systems

(5) Explanatory and credible AI to promote health equity.

Requirements for Ph.D. candidates:

Strong passion and motivation for research with a desire to solve practical biomedical problems.

2. Undergraduate or Master’s students in biomedical informatics/bioinformatics, computer science, electronic/biomedical engineering, mathematics, or related majors.

3. Minimum language requirement (IELTS/TOEFL + GRE) by the university

4. Strong programming with Python/R/C++/Java and/or mathematical skills.

5. Research experience in data mining, machine learning, and statistics. Candidates with publications are preferred.

Requirements for Postdocs:

1. A strong passion and drive for research with a desire to solve practical biomedical problems.

2. Ph.D. Degree in Biomedical Informatics, Bioinformatics, Informatics, Electronic/Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline.

3. Strong programming and math skills with experience in Data Mining, Machine Learning, and Biomedical Informatics.

4. Presentation of publication, teamwork, and communication in English.
