Job Overview:
The University of Cincinnati’s Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise, and Nutrition is looking for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor to contribute to the department’s research, education, and service responsibilities. This is a 9-month assistant professorship.
Essential Functions:
This position is primarily responsible for developing the personal research agenda, teaching in relevant content areas, and supervising the Faculty of Rehabilitation, Exercise, Nutrition Sciences, and the United University of Health Sciences. Research activities include but are not limited to, funding, mentoring of students, and dissemination of research results.
Responsibility for education and services includes the development of educational courses and basic training. Student recruitment, maintenance, and participation in admissions activities. Participate in program committee duties, including program evaluation, certification duties, and other activities designated by the department head.
Scholarships are central to this position, but also require educational and service activities consistent with faculty evaluation criteria and the mission of the college, university, or department.
Minimum Requirements:
- Undergraduate doctorate in a relevant sector; ABD candidates are eligible but must have completed their studies before starting.
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a physical therapist in the State of Ohio.
- Attempts to establish a specific search direction.
- Evidence of an active research program, as indicated by recent peer-reviewed publications and academic productivity.
- Possibility of future scholarships abroad. A visible program for ongoing scientific activities, including follow-up on foreign research funding.
- Proof of at least two years of teaching experience at college or equivalent level.
- Current knowledge and skills regarding the use of computer technology and educational learning management systems.
- Evidence of strong organizational strength; excellent interpersonal skills such as communication, problem solving, counseling, conflict management, and follow-up.
- Ability to work independently. Interest and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to support the various tasks assigned by department management or program management.
- It demonstrates a commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Additional Qualifications Considered:
- Ph.D. in a related field.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: neurorehabilitation, sensorimotor neuroscience, and/or motor control/learning
- History of education and/or interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to reinforce strengths in departmental research focus areas.
- Proof of professional services appropriate for the applicant’s career stage.
